Sure, there are other options out there for straightening your teeth, but none offers the level of comfort, convenience and confidence that you'll find with Invisalign®. And no matter what stage you're at in life, you'll appreciate how our cutting-edge approach to treatment has minimal interference in how you live, but has a significant positive impact on how you look and feel about yourself. Invisalign can help cure many dental problems. Grinding: Invisalign can correct the bite and decrease the interference in your bite, thus aids in treating grinding of teeth Deep pockets and gingival recession may be a result of bacterial infection or due to grinding of teeth. This can be treated by correcting the bite. Crowding of teeth causes tartar buildup which means collection of bacteria around the gums which eventually causes gum recession and bone loss. Invisalign can straighten the teeth and thus can prevent tartar buildup. TMJ pain can be due to improper bite which can cause clenching or grinding of teeth. This can be corrected with Invisalign. Improper occlusion: no overjet or overbite can cause grinding of teeth. Invisalign can correct the occlusion. Cosmetic: if you're not happy with your crooked teeth or uneven smile, Invisalign is the answer to your problems. By balancing the bite and treating the malocclusion, multiple dental problems can be avoided and it also helps to increase the life span of the existing dental restorations.

What Is Invisalign Teen?

Just like standard Invisalign, Invisalign Teen involves a series of clear, BPA-free plastic, removable aligners. At Smiles-R-Us Dental, we kick off the Invisalign procedure by using our iTero scanner to take a quick, comfortable scan of your teenager’s teeth and gums. A 3D model of your child’s mouth is created from the scans and Dr. Karia and Dr. Shah plans exactly when and where each tooth will move directly on the computerized model. He can also show you what your teen’s smile will look like when treatment is over before you even get started. A series of custom, clear aligners are created based onDr. Karia and Dr. Shah specifications. Your teen will wear their aligners for about 20 to 22 hours every day and change to a new set every one to two weeks, depending on their treatment plan. As they go through the series of Invisalign Teen aligners, their teeth will shift little by little into their new positions.

Often, parents have questions about the effectiveness of Invisalign vs. braces. Years ago, Invisalign Teen was reserved for simple orthodontic issues. However, these days, we can achieve outstanding results for mild, moderate and complex cases with both types of treatment! Dr. Shah is a Silver Tier Invisalign Provider, meaning she has extensive experience with the teeth-straightening system. Additionally, the new and improved SmartTrack® material the aligners are made from, allows for improved control and predictability and we’re also able to use tooth-colored attachments to facilitate complicated movements. The aligners are designed specifically for teenagers’ mouths and have features like eruption tabs to accommodate erupting molars. While the only way to determine for sure if your child is a candidate for Invisalign Teen is to be evaluated by a doctor, we are able to use the treatment for most patients.

The Pros Of Invisalign Teen

  • Comfortable: Invisalign Teen doesn’t involve brackets and wires so there is no irritation, poking wires or accidental cuts to the mouth.
  • Virtually Invisible: Since aligners are crafted from a translucent material and they’re molded to fit the mouth, most people won’t notice your child is wearing them. Our Simpsonville and Greer Invisalign Teen patients report that they feel confident showing off their smile all throughout treatment. While even modern metal braces are streamlined, some patients still feel self-conscious about drawing attention to their smile with brackets and wires..
  • No Food Restrictions
  • Maintains good Oral Hygiene:
  • Shorter Appointments: Invisalign Teen doesn’t require any adjustments like braces do. Your teen will simply come in about every six to eight weeks for a quick check-up. Over the course of their treatment, this will save you some time.
  • No Emergency Visits: Eating certain foods or getting hit in the mouth can result in damaged braces that need to be repaired. Since Invisalign Teen aligners don’t consist of brackets and wires, you won’t have to deal with any emergency appointments.
  • Invisalign Teen is Precise: Invisalign Teen treatment is extremely precise. The system is based on computerized treatment planning and the aligners are custom made for your child’s mouth. The precision, combined with Dr. Karia and Dr. Shah's experience, ensures amazing results!
  • The Aligners Don’t Get in the Way: If your child plays sports or a wind instrument. Invisalign Teen aligners won’t accidentally cut their mouth and your kiddo can take them out to play their instrument. Due to the fact that Invisalign Teen requires minimal lifestyle changes, it can be an easier transition for patients.

The Cons Of Invisalign Teen

  • • Success is Based on Compliance: The aligners can only move your teenagers’ teeth into place if they wear them. For best results, we recommend patients wear their aligners for approximately 22 hours every day.
  • Aligners can get Lost: Lost aligners can set treatment time back and get expensive. Thankfully, Invisalign Teen does have some free replacement aligners built into the system

As a child grows, their smile grows with them. And even with baby teeth, it may be the perfect time for children ages 6 to 10 to start orthodontic treatment. This is known as Phase 1 treatment.

At this stage, Dentist can see issues that may need early treatment to address a developing problem.

Invisalign First clear aligner treatment is designed for predictable results and a positive experience while addressing the unique needs of growing children.

The goal of Phase 1 treatment is to develop young jaws and/or arches to make room for existing teeth and for incoming permanent teeth. Invisalign First aligners are:

  • Designed to treat a broad range of teeth straightening issues in growing children, from simple to complex, including crowding, spacing, and narrow dental arches.
  • Removable for easy hygiene, making it easier for growing children to brush and floss.
  • Designed for comfort – which means no discomfort from rubbing brackets or poking wires.
  • Can help with oral habits such as thumb sucking or tongue thrusting.

What Is Invisaling® ?

Invisalign® can be an effective solution for minor orthodontic problems (such as crookedness, crowding, and gaps between the teeth), as well as biting irregularities (underbite, overbite, open bite, and crossbite). The Invisalign® system uses a series of clear plastic trays, or aligners, similar to teeth whitening trays. The aligners are custom-crafted by specially trained Invisalign® technicians who use advanced computer technology to map out a patient’s entire treatment from start to finish. The imaging software depicts the final position of the teeth, and each set of aligners is crafted to move the teeth closer to that position. With periodic check-ups from your cosmetic dentist, treatment progresses inconspicuously until your teeth arrive at the desired alignment.

Invisaling® VS. Braces

Traditional orthodontic treatment involves using brackets and wires to push teeth into the proper positioning. This approach often presents many inconveniences for patients, such as gum and mouth irritation, difficulty removing food stuck between brackets, and a smile obscured by metal. Developed as a more sophisticated way to straighten teeth, the Invisalign® system is designed to work as unobtrusively as possible. Use of these clear, removable aligners typically offers a number of advantages over metal braces, including:

  • Less invasive treatment
  • Ability to enjoy an unrestricted diet
  • Ability to brush and floss without difficulty
  • Faster treatment time
  • Fewer office visits

Invisalign® can correct many of the issues conventionally addressed by metal braces— such as asymmetry, misalignments, and malocclusion (poor bite)— without obvious indication that you are undergoing treatment. If you are interested in achieving a straighter smile, one of our cosmetic dentists can help you determine whether Invisalign® is well-suited to meet your treatment goals during a consultation.

How Invisaling® Works

The Invisalign® process begins with a complimentary consultation in which one of our dentists will determine whether Invisalign® is an appropriate treatment for you. If it is, you will return to our office to be fitted for your first set of aligners. At this appointment, we will take pictures and molds of your teeth and mouth, which we will send to the Invisalign® laboratory. There, technicians will use the molds to plan your treatment and craft your first set of aligners, which they will send to our office. Once you pick up the aligners, simply wear them at all times, day and night, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Your next set of aligners and each successive one will be shipped directly to your residence. You will change out the aligners as they arrive. Patients typically visit our office in Morristown for checkups approximately every six weeks. Invisalign® patients who wear their aligners as directed may finish treatment in as fast as 9 to 18 months.

How Long Dose Invisaling® Take?

The total treatment time required by Invisalign® will depend on the extent of concerns being addressed. Generally speaking, mild misalignments and minor orthodontic issues are typically corrected faster than more complex cases. Your cosmetic dentist will inform you of the estimated length of your Invisalign® treatment in person, but on average, most adult patients complete the process in 9 to 12 months. As teenagers’ teeth are often still developing, the approximate treatment time may differ in younger patients.

How Much Dose Invisaling® Cost?

The national average price of Invisalign® ranges from $3,000 to $8,000, although your exact cost estimate will be calculated according to your unique orthodontic needs. Factors that can affect the cost of treatment include how many Invisalign® aligners are necessary to obtain the desired result and the complexity of your case. Once you meet with one of our cosmetic dentists, our office will be able to provide you with a personalized quote prior to the start of any dental work. In addition to accepting an array of insurance plans and payment methods, our practice also works with highly reputable dental financing companies—such as CareCredit® and Citi® Health—to accommodate our patients’ diverse needs. These programs offer many flexible payment plans with low monthly installments for qualified applicants to allow affordable treatment that can conform to your budget. If you have any other questions about the price of Invisalign® treatment, please don’t hesitate to call our practice and speak to a friendly member of our team.

Do You Offer In Invisaling® Alternative?

Invisalign® is generally the best orthodontic treatment for patients who have issues concerning their bite or jaw alignment. It can also be the most appropriate solution for extensive tooth positioning problems found throughout the mouth. That said, porcelain veneers can sometimes be a good Invisalign® alternative to correct minor dental flaws, such as a gap between teeth, individual tooth-crookedness, or spot discoloration on the enamel. Veneers are a cosmetic treatment designed to hide minor aesthetic imperfections using thin porcelain shells, which are bonded to the fronts of the enamel to mimic the look of full, healthy teeth. This can save some individuals with gaps or mild misalignments from undergoing more invasive orthodontic techniques. However, porcelain veneers are solely meant to correct cosmetic issues, and concerns regarding the health or function of a tooth are best treated with an orthodontic or restorative procedure.

Caring for your Invisalign® aligners is very simple—just rinse the aligners under lukewarm water and gently brush the plastic with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Never expose Invisalign® aligners to hot water, as high temperatures can warp the material and interfere with your treatment. Aside from the simple daily oral hygiene habits required to keep your natural teeth healthy (such as brushing and flossing), Invisalign® requires very little maintenance to remain in good condition.

Invisalign® aligners are translucent, which can potentially lead to discoloration if the plastic is exposed to staining agents. However, avoiding accidental staining is just a matter of removing your aligners before eating food or drinking high-sugar beverages, such as juice, soda, and alcohol. As an extra layer of caution, it is also advisable to brush your teeth after eating pasta, blueberries, beets, and other meals that are likely to discolor your aligners.

Yes, wearing a clear Invisalign® retainer after your teeth are straightened is key to maintaining good results and preventing recurrent tooth misalignment. For most patients, wearing a retainer is only necessary at night while asleep.Dr. Karia and Dr. Shah will give you specific instructions on how often you should wear your retainer based on your individual treatment plan.

You may notice a slight difference in your speech at the start of treatment, but most patients are able to speak normally after a few days of growing accustomed to wearing their aligners.

Invisalign® is designed to be a much more comfortable orthodontic system than metal braces and patients usually don’t experience pain from their aligners. You may feel slight pressure during the acclimation period, but this is generally a sign that Invisalign® is properly guiding your teeth into the correct positioning. If you wear your aligners as often as instructed, the feeling should subside within a few days.

Holistic orthodontics for kids treatment philosophy addresses not only the straightening of teeth but also the underlying structure causing misalignment in the first place. For example, an overbite may be the result of the lower jaw not developing forward properly. Our orthotropic approach focuses on addressing the development of the lower jaw, rather than removing teeth or restricting the growth of a healthy upper jaw.

This approach is especially valuable for children. When kids are still growing, the underlying structures that can impact their smiles are extremely malleable. While this does mean that poor oral habits, such as tongue position or thumb-sucking, can result in significant deformations, it also means that early intervention can make a world of difference.

How Does The HealthyStart® System Work?

The HealthyStart® System works with the natural forces of tooth eruption. The soft, comfortable, removable devices gently guide the erupting teeth into their perfect alignments.

In addition, HealthyStart® aids in the correct growth and alignment of the lower jaw, expanding the arches to ensure space for incoming permanent teeth.

What Is The HealthyStart® System?

The HealthyStart® System features a series of appliances that are customized to your child's needs, depending their age, as well as the issues you intend on addressing.

These appliances address a range of symptoms of Sleep Disordered Breathing, such as mouth breathing, inability to focus, academic challenges, bedwetting, snoring, nightmares, underdeveloped jaw, underdeveloped airway and more.
